3. festival Deuje babe
6.-8. marec, Cerkno
(English version below)
Prvič sodeluje z ljubljanskim Mednarodnim festivalom sodobnih umetnosti Mesto žensk in Društvom upokojencev Cerkno.
Vsi dogodki so brezplačni. Prostovoljnih prispevkov se ne branimo.

Javni pogovor o nevidnem delu
Majdo Hrženjak, sociologinjo in raziskovalko z Mirovnega inštituta (Ljubljana), urednico knjige Politics of Care (2011) in avtorico študijeNevidno delo (2007), ki že več let raziskuje družbeno organizacijo skrbstvenega dela v povezavi s spoli, migracijami, globalizacijo, neenakostmi in socialnimi politikami. Pogovor bo moderirala Tea Hvala, mag. antropologije spolov.

Odprtje fotografske razstave
Razstava bo odprta do 28. marca. Ogled je mogoč med CMAK-ovim odpiralnim časom (pon., tor., čet. in pet. med 14h in 22h, sre. med 8h in 16h, sob. med 18h in 22h, ned. po dogovoru).

Grrrls Night Out
21.00:poprock koncert – Propella (Avstrija)
21.45: drag queen performans – Vala Tanz, kraljica noči (Poljska)
22.30: vesoljski pop disko metal koncert – Le Toy (Avstrija)
23.00: DJ program z Djane Bruxa (Šentviška gora)
Ženstveni fantje in možate punce dobrodošle! (Performans bo potekal v angleščini.)
Le Toy (vesoljski pop disko metal, Dunaj)
V duetu Le Toy igrata odbita elektropop bobnarka Makki in Flo, rockovsko-metalski bojevnik nežnih oči.

Predavanje
Špela Alič: Boj znotraj boja: Ženske in zapatizem
Poleg aktivizma sta glavni temi njenega raziskovanja še pravice žensk in teorije spola.

3rd Deuje babe Festival
6th–8th March 2015, Cerkno
(CMAK) The Alternative Youth Centre in Cerkno has been organising the Deuje babe Festival (Wild Hags Festival) on International Women’s Day since 2013. The festival is named after an archaeological site above the Idrijca River, where according to popular tradition, wild/untamed women lived. The Deuje Babe Festival remains true to this tradition by representing the »wild« art and activism of girls and women. It gives them an opportunity to expose their work to a wider audience, the festival prioritizes the work of creators and fighters who reject stereotypical notions of women; of those who break the unwritten rules of »normal« looks, behaviour, sexual orientation, way of life, choice of profession etc. The Deuje babe Fest stands for equality for all women – including those who weren’t born as women – and for a more just world for all – women, men and children.
Deuje babe Fest is organised by CMAK in collaboration with the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns from Ljubljana, the Grrrls Kulturverein from Graz and, for the first time, the International Festival of Contemporary Art City of Women and the Cerkno Pensioners’ Association.
All events are free of charge. Contributions are welcome!

Public discussion
»Labour of Love«
In the 1970s, the feminist movement in Italy demanded wages for housework. Forty years later, the idea of paid »labour of love« still seems unusual. Why is that so? Why are women paid to look after the children of others (babysitting, teaching), but not to look after their own? Why does care work, housework and emotional work (at one’s home as well as the homes of others) continue to be done by women – even those who are fully employed? And how do we look at men who do the invisible work by taking care of children, family and relatives, by cooking, cleaning and doing the laundry?
These are some of the issues that are going to be addressed on the International Women’s Day by our guest dr. Majda Hrženjak, sociologist and researcher at the Peace Institute in Ljubljana, editor of Politics of Care (2011) and the author of Nevidno delo (Invisible work, 2007), who has been researching the social organization of care work in relation to gender, migration, globalization, inequality and social policies for many years. Te discussion will be facilitated by Tea Hvala, who holds a MA in Anthropology of Gender.

Photo exhibition opening
Nada Žgank: Nadalandia
Nadalandia presents a selection of Nada Žgank’s photographs taken at the City of Women Festival. Nada Žgank has been documenting the festival since 1999 by focusing on those artists whose art featured transformations of the body. Thus the series reveals a field of “phantasmagorical” metamorphoses, originating from various motifs; either as a critique of ideals of beauty, inspired by tradition, or as a form of social and political commentary. Nadalandia is also the Land of Nada Žgank – the Land of Imagination.
Nada Žgank is one of the best women photographers in the field of stage photography in Slovenia. Her lenses have captured innumerable theatre, dance and music events and festivals. Her photography is distinguished by her sublime sense of space and light – as well as darkness, all of which is visible in her magical images.
The exhibition is open until March 28th during CMAK’s opening hours: (Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 14:00 – 22:00, Wed 8:00 – 16:00, Sat 18:00 – 22:00, Sun negotiable).

Grrrls Night Out
21.00:poprock concert – Propella (Austria)
21.45: drag queen performance – Vala Tanz, kraljica noči (Poland)
22.30: space pop disco metal concert – Le Toy (Austria)
23.00: DJ program with Djane Bruxa (Šentviška gora)
Propella (poprock, Vienna)
Propella stands for: hitting the riff full steam ahead! The creaky dance engine starts off with a well placed kick in the gut – outright, intense, offhanded. Singer/guitar player Babl Raketa´s Rock´n´Roll of total exhaustion has unsettled audiences since her first band Pantskirt appeared on stage. Nadine Abado (vocals/bass guitar) and Heike Mangold (drums) add some surprising ease to the wild driving rawness of Propella´s music. Expect a feast of razor-sharp guitar mayhem that accompanies the cats fighting on a hot tin roof. Website: http://www.propellamusic.com/
Vala Tanz, Queen of the Night (Poland)
Vala Tanz will transform into the Queen of the Night in her interdisciplinary drag queen performance. She will be vogue dancing, making you laugh to tears and she will cry tears of joy and casually check what is written in your stars. As befits the Drag Queen, the audience will be sprinkled with fairy dust and given an unpretentious reflection on queer culture. Feminine boys and masculine girls, welcome! (The performance will be held in English.)
Le Toy (space pop disco metal, Vienna)
The Viennese music duo Le Toy consists of Makki (vocals, synth, sound effects) and Flo (guitar, vocals, visuals). The playful bass guitar riffs, raw guitar sounds, resonating keyboards and velvety female vocals round up their performance and differentiate it from the rest. Synthpop? Electro? Rock? Metal? Le Toy occupies the whole spectrum. They claim their journey across the galaxy has led them to an important conclusion: There’s no place like Earth! Their music connects love, empathy and concern for their fellow humans as well as a universal passion for indulgence and music. In Cerkno, they will be joined by a secret guest from Outer Space! Soundcloud:https://soundcloud.com/letoy
After the concert, you can dance with, on, under, beside or above the broomstick to Djane Bruxa’s bewitching sounds!

Lecture
Špela Alič: Struggle within Struggle: Women and Zapatism
In order to understand the struggle of Zapatista women, it is important to first understand the Zapatista struggle, which is going to be explained in the first part of the lecture. The second part will discuss the double struggle of women, fought since the beginning of the uprising in 1994: their local and national struggle for recognition as women, natives and equal members of society.
Špela Alič hold a BA in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. Her research concerns activism, primarily South American activism of the Zapatistas, women’s rights and gender theory.
